Prediabetes
Information and resources on Prediabetes, how to test for it, and what to do to keep Prediabetes from developing into Diabetes.
What is Prediabetes? It is a blood glucose (sugar) level that is higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes. One in three American adults has prediabetes, and most do not even know they have it. Without weight loss and moderate physical activity, 15 to 30% of people with prediabetes will develop type 2 diabetes within five years. There are 351,000 people in New Hampshire, 32.9% of the adult population, who have prediabetes with blood glucose levels that are higher than normal but not yet high enough to be diagnosed as diabetes.
