Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant
Information and resources for the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SABG), which supports substance misuse prevention and treatment systems in New Hampshire.
The Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) provides the Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment Block Grant (SABG) to each Single State Authority (SSA). The SABG is authorized by section 1921 of Title XIX, Part B, Subpart II and III of the Public Health Service Act. The Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services (BDAS) serves as the SSA for New Hampshire. The SABG supports substance misuse prevention, early-intervention, treatment and recovery support services and initiatives for both citizens and communities of New Hampshire.

Public Comments are Welcomed
The public is invited to comment on the planning and progress of the Block Grant initiatives.
Title XIX, Subpart III, section 1941 of the PHS Act (42 U.S.C. § 300x-51) requires, as a condition of the funding agreement for the grant, that states provide an opportunity for the public to comment on the state block grant plan. Plans are available for comment both during the development (including any revisions) and after the submission to SAMHSA.

NH Synar
The Annual Synar Report format provides the means for states to comply with the reporting provisions of the Public Health Service Act (42 U.S.C. 300x-26) and the Tobacco Regulation for the (SABG) (45 C.F.R.96.130 (e)).
How the Synar report helps the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention: In accordance with the tobacco regulations, states are required to provide detailed information on progress made in enforcing youth tobacco access laws and future plans to ensure compliance with the Synar requirements to reduce youth tobacco access rates.
